Washington Cabernet Franc is not a category we normally get excited about. Except when it’s good. I tasted this wine and was pleasantly surprised at how vivacious, lifted, and unique it was.
Loop de Loop was started by Julia Bailey Gulstine in 2012, focused on minimal-intervention wines grown in and around the Columbia Gorge. This Cabernet Franc is a great example of the wild nature of the Gorge, with notes of red plum, cherry, and roasted red bell peppers. Aromas of wildflowers and woodsmoke linger on the finish.

Her photographs have also appeared in publications such as Robb Report and the New York Times Dining section. Her passion for elevated comfort food has led her to break out on her own with a soon-to-come recipe site (and a few other surprises) for equally enthusiastic home cooks.
